About

I am a Calgary-born and raised writer, researcher, policy and communications professional.

I have worked as a journalist part-time since 2005. I served in four editorial positions at the University of Calgary’s student newspaper, the Gauntlet, including over-seeing two of the paper’s largest sections, Opinions and Entertainment. As a writer, I covered national championships in several sports, a federal election and the Juno Awards. I wrote on everything from youth voting patterns to professional wrestling (and almost everything in-between). Following my graduation, I began writing freelance for various publications both in the Calgary-area and abroad. Currently, I am Senior Contributing Editor at FlamesNation.ca (and occasionally contribute content to the other Nations Network sites), a Senior Writer at The Hockey Writers covering the Calgary Flames, the Western Hockey League and the NHL Draft, and the Calgary correspondent for The Fischler Report.

I hold bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science and a masters degree in political science, all from the University of Calgary. My masters thesis was focused on media choices and different types of political knowledge, in the context of the Canadian Election Study. My day job is in the Research Services Office at the U of C.
